For as long as I can remember, music has soothed my soul. Whenever I am experiencing heartache, confusion, or I’m just simply weary from a long and trying day, I turn to music. Sometimes, I just want to dance and feel joy; other times, I want to hear a song that reminds me not to worry about things, that God has everything under control. Sometimes I just want to sit with my feet up, close my eyes, and listen to a soft, melancholic sound. I was tired of hearing the same songs over and over on the radio, as if there were no other songs available. I wanted to hear something new, so I began writing lyrics for the type of songs I wanted to hear. I used digital instruments to create music, and over time, the production became a song I enjoyed listening to. At first, I kept the songs to myself, with no intention of selling them. They were written for me. And as I began sharing the songs with friends and others, they encouraged me to share them with music producers. A short duration spent with music producers showed me that I wasn’t cut out for the traditional music world. I enjoyed writing and producing music, but I don’t enjoy the entertainment environment. I prefer being independent, so I set out to create my own music label and sell my songs online. And so began Grace Notes Media, where all of the songs are rooted in Biblical power with a purpose to bring peace and grace through every note. Here are descriptions for the first six songs on the Grace Notes Media Online Music Channel. Dancing With Jesus This is a fun, uplifting, Christian dance song. When you want to lift your spirit, this song will help you shed the weight of the world as you dance and praise the Lord with a melody that keeps you moving. Faithful Glow This is a warm, melancholic Christian song with beautiful, soft string instrumentation. It reminds us that God will light the way for us through His faithful light and mercy. For God So Loved I wrote this song during Easter. I was sitting and contemplating how much God loves us, thinking about how He sent His Son to die for our sins. This is a slow, spiritual Christian song, especially meant for a quiet moment of reflection. Forever I Will Praise Your Name I am one of the worship leaders at my church. Normally, I lead the congregation with contemporary Christian songs. But one day, I was yearning for a good old-fashioned hymn. I jotted down some lyrics as I thought about the songs I used to sing when I was a young girl, sitting in church with my parents. The song is about exalting the Lord, praising His name. Give It Up To God (Kim’s Song) I was talking to a very dear friend (Kim) one day. She was sharing about some of her struggles with the medical industry, how she has some true physical limitations, and the interactions between the medical provider, social workers, attorneys, and all the channels involved with getting her approved for disability. I remember saying, “Oh girl, this is too much. You’re going to have to give it up to God.” I’m a fan of gospel music, and I wrote this song to feature a powerful choir repeating the words, "Give it up to God." I presented this song to Kim. She listened to it and responded. The end of this story is that Kim, after many years fighting court battles, finally won her case and was awarded the disability position she so needed. The moral of the story is, no matter what you’re going through, give it up to God. He will take care of things for you. Great and Powerful One I enjoy all types of music, but normally, when I lead worship, I play contemporary Christian songs for the congregation. Wanting to introduce the congregation to gospel music, I wrote this easy-to-sing gospel song. It is a soulful, emotional gospel ballad with piano, organ, choir harmonies, and light percussion. This song reminds us that God is great and powerful. Thank you for visiting. You may purchase any and all songs at the Grace Notes Media online store.
